Dr Nick Reid is Emeritus Professor in Ecosystem Management and former Head of the School of Environmental and Rural Science at the University of New England, Australia. He is internationally renowned for his research on landscape revegetation, ecosystem restoration and management of biodiversity in production landscapes.

Dr Rhiannon Smith is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Management in the School of Environmental and Rural Science at the University of New England. Her research focuses particularly on the measurement and management of biodiversity and ecosystem services in the Australian agricultural sector.

Dr David Paton is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Adelaide, and is widely known for his research on avian ecology and conservation biology. He co-founded Bio·R, a not-for-profit restoring broad-acre wildlife habitat to farmland, and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2008 for his services to conservation and the environment.

Dr Manuel Seeger is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physical Geography in the School of Regional and Environmental Sciences at the University of Trier, Germany. He was formerly Associate Professor at the University of Zaragoza, Spain, and Assistant Professor at Wageningen University, The Netherlands. Dr Seeger is internationally known for his research on measuring, understanding and mitigating soil erosion, particularly for European soils. He has chaired sessions related to soil erosion, its measurement and modelling at a number of conferences, including those organised by the European Geosciences Union. Dr Seeger is also on the editorial boards of a number of journals and has participated in a number of EU research projects such as DiverFarming and FireLinks.

Dr Jill Atkins is Professor in Financial Management at the University of Sheffield (UK). She is also Visiting Professor at the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa) and the University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy). Professor Atkins is internationally renowned for her research and has published widely in the areas of corporate governance, social accounting and responsible investment, and is the author of a standard textbook Corporate Governance and Accountability (now in its fifth edition). Her work in the area of biodiversity and conservation includes the recent books, The Business of Bees, Around the World in 80 Species and the forthcoming book, Extinction Governance, Finance and Accounting: Implementing a Species Protection Action Plan for the Financial Markets.

Dr Barbara Amon is an Associate Professor for Environmental Engineering and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Zielona Góra, Poland, and a Senior Research Scientist and Coordinator of the Research Programme “Precision farming in crop and livestock production” at the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) in Potsdam, Germany. In addition to her research, she sits on many panels looking at sustainable agriculture, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), European Innovation Partnership-AGRI and the FAO LEAP Partnership. She is also the Co-Chair of the Agriculture and Nature Panel as part of the UNECE Task Force on Emission Inventories and Projections and of the Expert Panel on Mitigation of Agricultural Nitrogen under the UNECE Task Force on Reactive Nitrogen.

Dr Marian Garcia Martinez is Professor of Marketing and Innovation and Dean of the Business School at the University of Kent, UK. Professor Garcia is also Director of Kent Business School Open Innovation Network and has worked with the UKRI ESRC-funded Enterprise Research Centre on innovation for small businesses. She is internationally known for her research on open innovation management and product development by businesses working collaboratively with customers. Her publications include a recent book on open innovation in the food industry.

Dr Jerry Knox is Professor of Agricultural Water Management based within the Water Science Institute at Cranfield University, UK. Professor Knox has an international reputation for his research on the science, engineering and management of water for agriculture, including assessing the relationships between water resources, drought, crop productivity and the environment, and the sustainability of irrigated production in the context of climate impacts and food security. His current research addressing water and climate risks is focussed in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. He is Editor of Outlook on Agriculture and Associate Editor for Irrigation Science.

Dr Mark Post is Professor of Sustainable Industrial Tissue Engineering in the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences at Maastricht University, The Netherlands. He is also widely regarded as a pioneer in cultured meat technology, producing the world’s first cultured meat hamburger in 2013. He co-founded the company MosaMeat to develop cultured meat products on a commercial scale.

Dr Che Connon is Professor of Tissue Engineering and FMS Director of Business Development at Newcastle University, UK. Professor Connon is widely recognised for his pioneering research in tissue engineering in such areas as the use of peptide/polymer gels in regenerative medicine and ‘super tissue engineering’ to develop biomaterials with a range of functions, including use in developing lab-grown meat. To this end he has spun out two companies (3D Bio-Tissues Ltd and CellRev Ltd) that look to solve critical issues in the production and texture of scaffold-free cultivated meat.

Dr Chris Bryant is an Honorary Research Associate at the University of Bath, UK and Director of Bryant Research, which works with alternative protein companies and others to advance the protein transition. With a background in psychology, he is particularly known for his research on understanding consumer attitudes to and acceptance of cultured meat products as well as broader attitudes to animal farming, welfare, vegetarianism and veganism.

Dr Robert L. Zimdahl is Professor Emeritus at Colorado State University, USA. He is a Fellow of the Weed Science Society of America, Western Society of Weed Science, American Society of Agronomy, and former Editor of Weed Science. He has published on weed science, including the standard text Fundamentals of Weed Science, currently in its fifth edition. The sixth edition will be available in 2023. Dr Zimdahl is also editor of Integrated weed management for sustainable agriculture, published by Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing in 2017.

Dr Claas Nendel heads the Research Group on Landscape Modelling at the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF), Germany. He is also Professor of Landscape Systems Analysis at the University of Potsdam. Dr Nendel is the Past President of the European Society of Agronomy and hosted, among other events, the first International Crop Modelling Symposium in Berlin in 2016. He is principal developer of the MONICA model which simulates biophysical processes in agroecosystems to allow assessment of regional impacts of climate change, and is internationally known for his contribution to agroecosystem modelling.

Dr Peter Kevan is Emeritus Professor in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph, Canada. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Waterloo and Ottawa University, Canada and a Research Associate of the Missouri Botanical Garden and Royal Botanical Garden. Professor Kevan is internationally renowned for his research on the biology and conservation of bees and other pollinators, with over 200 publications on these topics. Amongst other honours, he is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Royal Entomological Society and the Royal Society of Biology.

Dr D. Susan Willis Chan works in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph where she conducts research in entomology, ecology and biology, as well as working with Canadian farmers on conserving pollinators. Susan is a species expert on the ground-nesting hoary squash bee and has a strong interest in all aspects of agroecology.

Dr Cornelia Rumpel is Director of Research in the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Sciences at the French National Research Center (CNRS) located at Sorbonne University, where she leads a team investigating the fate of organic matter in natural and managed terrestrial ecosystems, including the mechanisms determining soil organic carbon sequestration. Her work deals with temperate and tropical environments and has contributed to the change of several paradigms in this important area. She is also working with industry and at the science policy interphase providing expertise in the areas of land management and climate change.

Professor Jane Rickson has over 30 years’ experience of research, consultancy and teaching in soil and water engineering, specialising in soil degradation processes and sustainable land management. Her work has focused on better understanding of soil functions and their role in the delivery of ecosystems goods and services, including water regulation, agricultural production and carbon storage. Professor Rickson is a Fellow and current President of the Institution of Agricultural Engineers, a Chartered Environmentalist, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Institute of Professional Soil Scientists.

Ralph E. H. Sims is Emeritus Professor of Sustainable Energy and Climate Mitigation at Massey University, New Zealand. In a distinguished career spanning 50 years, Professor Sims has also worked for the International Energy Agency, produced major reports on rural energy for the OECD, UNFCCC and UN FAO, been Director of the Centre for Energy Research at Massey University and contributed to five IPCC reports, including leading chapters on energy supply, transport and renewable energy integration.

Scott worked for Manitoba Agriculture as an agricultural extension specialist for over 23 years, before creating Fall-Line-Capital Inc - a company which invests in farmland and the latest agricultural technologies. Scott continues to enjoy international speaking opportunities, and contributing to Agronomy books and publications, most recently with the FAO/United Nations, the University of Adelaide, No-Till Farmer Magazine, and The Western Producer.

Professor Amir Kassam is Visiting Professor at the University of Reading (UK) and Moderator of the FAO-hosted Global Platform for Conservation Agriculture Community of Practice (Global CA-CoP). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (UK) and has received an OBE from the British Government for services to tropical agriculture and to rural development. Prof. Kassam is Chair of the International Conservation Agriculture Advisory Panel for Africa (ICAAP-Africa), Member of the European Conservation Agriculture Federation (ECAF) and Vice-Chair of the Conservation Agriculture Association for the UK (CA-UK). He is former Chair of the Aga Khan Foundation (UK), the FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance Europe Foundation and the Tropical Agriculture Association (TAA). He has held senior positions at international organisations such as the FAO and CGIAR and has worked with many national and international programmes on sustainable agricultural development. He has published widely on Conservation Agriculture.

Dr Jürgen Köhl is a Senior Scientist in Plant Pathology at Wageningen University & Research, The Netherlands with an international reputation in biological control of plant diseases. He is Convenor of the Working Group on Biological and Integrated Control of Plant Pathogens at the International Organization for Biological and Integrated Control (IOBC-wprs).

Dr Willem J. Ravensberg is Corporate Senior Regulatory and Governmental Affairs Manager at Koppert Biological Systems. A leading expert in biocontrol product development, he is former President of the International Biocontrol Manufacturers Association (IBMA) and BioProtection Global (BPG) which brings together the world’s leading biocontrol associations.
